Peter and the Keys of the Kingdom
Matthew 16:13–20
Jesus went for a long walk with his friends. Step, step, step!
Then Jesus asked them a big question. Who did they think he was?
His friend Simon Peter knew! Peter said that Jesus is the Christ, God's own Son.
Jesus was so glad. He told Peter that his name means rock, strong and steady. Jesus said he would build his Church on this rock. Knock, knock! Nothing can knock it down.
Jesus also promised Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven, to help take care of God's family.
The Church is God's big family, and you belong to it! Jesus takes care of his family. God loves you!
